Over the course of two years, I created more than 3,000 six second films using social video app, Vine. It was an experiment in live editing, loop patterns, and capturing moments in the moment.
The immediacy of the app allowed me to create a huge number of tiny films in a tiny timeframe – recording the beauty and repetition of an epic daily commute and some beautiful moments with my children that would have been lost to memory otherwise. My son’s first steps are on Vine somewhere along with brief glimpses of birthday parties, rainbows, Christmas mornings, playgrounds, tantrums, snowstorms, a family of deer, and two weddings.
I’ve lived in New York since 1992 and I had never before stopped to try and document the amazing architecture and texture all around me. Vine was my favorite thing ever for awhile. Until I got into Instagram, that is. RIP Vine.
