RECENT COMMERCIAL WORK: Blue Sky Studios (2009-Present)
I was hired as the Marketing Creative Director at Blue Sky Studios at the end of 2008. This means I direct every piece of custom animation the studio produces to promote their huge blockbuster film releases. I also often conceive, write and storyboard them.
I’ve spent most of my career ignorantly winging it – producing animation in a state of absolute amateur mistakery. I’ve learned more about REAL production, storytelling and animation in the last three years than I thought possible. Having a feature film quality production behind my little 5-30 second pieces has been wild. To say it’s an honor to work with (and direct?!) the geniuses at Blue Sky would be a vulgar understatement.

Rio “3D Glasses Message” In Theater PSA (2011)
I directed and storyboarded this 3D gag telling you it’s time put your glasses on. Obviously, this is supposed to be seen in a theater with 3D glasses on – we exaggerated the stereoscopic effect on the nose for maximum impact. Obviously.
Rio / McDonald’s Europe “Mr. Happy” Commercial (2011)
I only directed the animation of the Rio characters here. The very esteemed Passion Pictures and Mac Guff conceived and produced the majority.
Rio / CPW Commercial (2011)
I directed the dancing birds and the Luis at the end as part of a :40 animated character parade. It was used for a ton of material – this is a particularly adorable one for our international cereal partner.

Only a couple shots here were ours, but we made ‘em pop.
Ice Age 3 “Snow Block” Titles (2009)
We did a total of 6 custom versions of this to suit the many needs for this kind of title treatment. Different reveals and an over-rendered alpha channel version… it was a head-scratcher just to manage file names.

I directed the animation on this – one of the first things I worked on at Blue Sky.
MY OLD REEL (1996-2005)
I’ve done many things since this reel, but it’s fun from a(n) historical perspective. Mostly Flash and a mix between work I made with my hands (say 10%) and work I directed or produced.
